Things to Do
Eating Out
There are a wide variety of places to eat out in Salcombe town suitable for all ages and range from restaurants to pubs and cafes to takeaways. There are four pubs in Salcombe, The Victoria Inn, The Fortescue, The Kings Arms and The Ferry Inn all offering good British food and al fresco dining.
The restaurants that we would recommend are very popular especially during busy periods and the weekends so we would recommend booking ahead.
They are:
- Dick & Wills
01548 843408 - The Cricket Inn at Beesands
01548 580215 - The Winking Prawn
01548 842326 - The Island Street Bar & Grill
01548 844007
There are many more restaurants available however these are the ones most frequented by us. During the day you can reach Salcombe by the local ferry and during the evening you are able to order a water taxi through the harbour office.
If you want somewhere to eat or have a leisurely drink on the East Portlemouth side of the Estuary then there is the Gara Rock Restaurant – 01548 845946 or the Millbrook Inn in South Pool – 01548 531 581 or The Pigs Nose in East Prawle – 01548 511209. During the day at the top of the ferry steps in East Portlemouth there is the Venus Café offering snacks and drinks but is closed during the winter.
